Business Planning Manager
**General Description**
We're searching for a Business Planning Manager to join the Flagship Smartphone team within the HHP (Handheld Products) Product Marketing group at Samsung Electronics America. This position will be based in Richardson, TX. The Flagship Smartphone team is organized directly under the Senior Vice President of HHP (Handheld Products) Product Marketing. This team is tasked with developing and executing the go-to-market strategy for all Flagship Smartphone devices in the US market. This includes product planning, value proposition definition, situation analysis, creating business driving go-to-market plans, and leading cross-functional teams to execute those plans. Responsibilities The Business Planning Manager will be the analytical horsepower of the Flagship Smartphone team, using data to understand and drive the business. They will be tasked with understanding, establishing, and monitoring key business metrics across a number of functions with the objective of having a real-time pulse of the business and using that understanding to drive impactful business activities. This position will require a blend of analytical skills, strategic thinking, and organizational influence. Key success factors in this role include strong project management skills, attention to detail, statistics/finance acumen, enthusiasm, a self-starter attitude, practicality, agility, collaboration and communication. Our business is evolving--we are looking for a creative and dynamic individual to bring a fresh approach to help drive the business. This role will report to the Director of Flagship Smartphone Business Planning. You will have significant interaction and work collaboratively with the business planning, supply chain management, marketing, retail, finance, legal, product development, customer support, HR teams, and frequently interact with Senior Leaders within the organization.
* Create and maintain dashboard of key business metrics including sales, market share, loyalty metrics, pricing, promotion, external market factors, key success factors defined during go-to-market strategy, etc in order to monitor business health in real-time
* Simplify complex data into simple, easy to interpret data visualization to help support Executive business decision making process
* Track business performance across different customer channels & consumer segments in order understand achievement versus annual management plan - recommend strategies to close gaps versus the plan
* Participate in the business planning process to drive more accurate forecasting through portfolio, competitive, and market insights
* Develop deep understanding of impact of product pricing elasticity & promotions effectiveness through analysis, testing, and research - use that understanding to drive a more robust organizational awareness of the impact of these business levers
* Manage product lifecycles profitably through price moves & end of life strategies Minimum Requirements
* Masters' degree preferably in Business, Finance, or related field
* 6-10 years of relevant experience
* Strong preference for experience within software or other technology companies, public company experience a plus
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with an ability to interact effectively with people in a variety of corporate roles
* Advanced skills using Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint
* Solid financial acumen and use of business metrics Desired Skills
* Exceptional organizational skills and a penchant for problem-solving, with strong attention to detail and the ability to prioritize and perform multiple assorted tasks
* Self-motivated, resourceful and full of integrity, with the ability to collaborate as a team while also taking initiative and exercising great judgment
* Ability to handle ambiguity, juggle many matters at once and quickly shift from one situation or task to another
* Ability to work under pressure handling multiple time sensitive projects
**Necessary Skills / Attributes**
Demonstrated ability to interact at all levels within customers organization and also within Samsungs organization. The ability to negotiate with and convince others, in a potentially adversarial environment, including customer leadership team, VPs, directors & managers, staff, and vendors with opposing views to accept/approve plans, technical and project recommendations. The ability to independently plan, organize and prioritize multiple projects, sales and simultaneous performance objectives. Ability to make professional sales and business presentations in writing, through email, reports, or orally, including complex business and technical matters to an audience of high technical skills, management and operational experience. The ability to develop specific sales and business plans and metrics, to clearly define results to be achieved, to make decisions, to give direction, and to measure individual/team performance and sales results. Excellent Planning, Interpersonal, Communication, and Negotiation skills. Skilled in developing and maintaining excellent working relationships with all appropriate levels within and outside the company. Ability to work in a team environment, in order to achieve personal and team project milestones and to complete assignments within established time frames. The ability to accept tasks and resolve problems/situations that differ, requiring creativity to search for optimal solutions, when only broad and general guidelines exist for solving problems. Ability to negotiate on behalf of function to come to agreement by managing communications through discussions and compromise; issues are short-term operational and medium-term tactical or limited strategic nature.
